HOPE WHITE
As part of Everyday Boston’s Storytelling to Build Medical Trust project with MA-CEAL, Hope White shares the story below of how a doctor’s misleading recommendation changed the course of her life. Read the transcript of her full interview here.
A public health professional for over 30 years—most recently at Boston Medical Center, where she was Community Engagement Director at MA-CEAL—Hope was a lifelong community activist who cared deeply about uplifting the voices of people who may not otherwise be heard. She was a woman rooted in deep faith, and a devoted and loving mother to her son, Narai. Hope passed away in August 2025; we will miss the light of her smile, the generosity of her spirit, her fierce authenticity, and the love and concern she invested in people from all walks of life.
Below are some images of her invaluable work with Everyday Boston and the Storytelling to Build Medical Trust project—first as a storyteller, then as a member of a focus group, and later as a member of our Community Trust Roundtable, a group entrusted with shaping the vision for the learning series designed to put humanity at the heart of every patient-provider interaction.
Hope at her son Narai’s graduation.
